PART 1

1,100 miles wahoo!! As I transitioned into Northern California the scenery has drastically changed. Instead of granite peaks everywhere and giant boulders, I am seeing much more green covering mountains and many more piles of smaller rocks. There are less and less alpine lakes although we still find chances to swim.

One thing I have finally mastered is my resupply strategy. For breakfast I'll have 2 packets of oatmeal. Second breakfast consists of a nice breakfast bar or granola and a cup of coffee. For lunch I'll have trail mix, salami, cheese, dried fruit and gummy bears. Dinner, which has been my favorite is usually a box of couscous, a packet of ramen, tuna, and a Snickers for dessert. And I'm still hungry sometimes???

I am also on my 3rd pair of shoes now. My shoes of choice are the Altra Lone Peak 6. While they are not the perfect choice for everyone, they have done wonders for me! I have managed to somehow go the whole way so far without a single blister or foot issue.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of this segment where I get to hike with someone I already know pretty well...

P.S. Found a weird mushroom book with a trombone on the cover?!?!?

Great to hear from y'all! Currently in Ashland. Had to skip a section they just closed due to wildfires. A few closures in Oregon so I'm hoping I can speed through to Washington before it gets too bad.
