Bio
New to the area, Joseph Stoltz is a freelance trombonist in Seattle, Washington. He recently moved from his hometown of Iowa City, Iowa after having consistently taught and played in the area. While in Iowa City, Joseph spent the past 3 years in Iowa City teaching both middle school and high school trombonists. Joseph is also the founder of award winning New Orleans style brass band, College Street Brass Band.
Joseph graduated from Western Michigan University in 2021 with a degree in Music Performance: Trombone and a Minor in Multimedia Arts Technologies. During his time there, he studied trombone with with Dr. Steve Wolfinbarger and jazz studies with Dr. Scott Cowan. While in Kalamazoo, Joseph was the trombonist for the Kalamazoo Civic Theater Pit and occupied the role of lead trombonist for the Gull Lake Jazz Orchestra as well as the Otsego Jazz Ensemble. He also spent time running numerous recording sessions and was a recording engineer for the recitals at Dalton School of Music.
