More lakes and mountains? Yes please! Behind me is 10,000 lakes. One of the most beautiful views and nicer lakes that we took a dip in. The only issue was the mosquitoes... All throughout the morning we were running from mosquitoes. At 2nd breakfast I was al suited up in rain gear and had my bug net on. We thought that taking a dip in the lake would keep the mosquitoes off us for a little while but as soon as we started to dry off, they were right back on us! This is quite possibly the only downside to the Sierras I have encountered. Despite this, the day still stood out to me.
Shortly after we passed this lake we stopped for lunch. And shortly after we stopped, it started to rain... Just a light sprinkle but the clouds did not look promising. We took an extra long lunch and made some hot chocolate to warm up. After lunch we had to hike up Donohue pass and unfortunately the weather looked even worse. We talked to many people who had just come down the pass and told us it was hailing on top for about an hour. We got our rain jackets ready and went to head up the pass. About 2 miles from the top we looked up and saw huge clouds and rain about an hour away moving our direction. We knew we had to hurry. We took no breaks and went as fast as we could up the pass. We somehow managed to outrun the storm with only a light sprinkle. As soon as we went over Donohue pass the clouds cleared up and there were blue skies. That's the Sierras!

The other cool landmark we passed by was the Soda Springs. The Soda Springs are a couple of springs coming from the ground that continually bubble up. Not only is it a natural spring, but the water it produces is carbonated! This natural phenomena was discovered in 1872 and to this day scientists have not figured out why this occurs. I'll admit I took a little taste, unfiltered, and it was a strange sensation! Didn't get sick either thankfully.

Finally 2 months and 1,000 miles! I hit 1,000 miles with friends I started with on day 1 which made the milestone even more special. I still can't believe how amazing every day is. I look forward to many more milestones and memories to come.
