I've finished the desert! After 702 miles of dry, waterless, sandy desert, I am finally in the Sierras. The desert was certainly interesting, and much different from Iowa! One of my favorite parts were the Joshua trees. These outer worldly looking trees always grew in different ways which were fascinating. Most importantly, they were providing shade as well!

In other news...I met another Pickle!! She is from Berkeley, CA and loves pickles just as much as I do. I had seen her name in the trail logs and after many miles finally caught up with her.

Another fun challenge my tramily participated in was the Ridgecrest dress challenge. The rules are you are supposed to wear a dress from the city of Ridgecrest to Kennedy Meadows. This stretch is two and a half days and was very exposed. Thankfully there was plenty of shade, just not enough for my shoulders..... We made the most of this challenge and had such a fun time. There were many weird looks in Walmart though, ha ha!

As I hike through the Sierras the service is becoming less reliable. I will try to keep on top of posts but they will be slightly less frequent. Stay tuned!
